Miracle in the Rain

I loved Jane Wyman in this movie the same way I loved Celia Johnson in Brief Encounter. Although not nearly as good a movie overall, Wyman is delightful as the decidedly unglamorous girl next door who just can’t believe such a violent, exciting thing as love could really happen to her.  Go to the apex of this character type and you get Jane Eyre; go a little bit the other way and you get Holly Golightly.  This take is somewhere in the middle, and while it isn’t a great movie by any means, Wyman’s great in it.
